The Client:
Bonus Ball Studios, established in 2020, is a new game development company. It was founded by a trio of friends who bonded over their love for paintball and video games. Once the pandemic hit, they were no longer able to get together and play paintball, but they thought that since they couldn't go out to play it, they wanted to bring it to them. So they decided to bring together their two passions of paintball and video games and create Bonus Ball Studios.
The Ask:
Generate digital marketing content to promote the Paintball Arena game, appealing to both gaming and paintball communities. Additionally, design a logo for the game and establish its presence on social media platforms.
Strategy
Design online marketing campaigns to ignite interest and excitement in a new paintball shooter game among gamers and paintball enthusiasts.
Approach
Given the high-energy nature of paintball as a sport, I aimed to develop marketing strategies that would mirror its thrilling appeal. Working in close partnership with the client, I sought to grasp the essence of their game and what sets it apart. In the initial stages of developing the marketing, I had the opportunity to experience the game firsthand, granting me insight into the gameplay experience. With a clearer understanding of the game mechanics and its unique selling points, I set out to devise marketing strategies that would effectively communicate this sense of excitement and distinctiveness.
For the website creation, I wanted to incorporate bright and vibrant color palettes that would complement each other and evoke a feeling of energy and excitement. I opted for bright red and blue to showcase the excitement of the game. When it came to the content, I focused on highlighting all the game's features through short text sections for each unique aspect. Moreover, I made sure to include a variety of photos and videos of the game on the site, along with a gallery page to provide visitors with an insight into the gameplay experience.
In addition to the website, I was tasked with exploring various social media platforms for the client to utilize in promoting the game. My suggestion was for them to establish a discord channel for community engagement, a channel for updates and development progress, and another for players to connect once the game is launched. I also proposed Twitch and YouTube for entertainment and information purposes, where they could livestream gameplay, share progress updates, and interact with the community. Lastly, I advised them to leverage Facebook and Twitter due to those platforms large user base, enabling direct communication with the community and the use of features like polls for feedback.
Objective
Craft engaging digital marketing content that educates and entertains, uniting gamers and paintball enthusiasts to discover and enjoy the game. Additionally, enhance the client's social media visibility and foster a community that promotes discussions related to the game.
Logos
When designing the game's logo, I created two different versions suitable for a variety of marketing materials, ensuring they conveyed a sense of fun and captured the game's thrilling nature. The first version incorporated paint splatter to represent the paintball experience, a familiar image for enthusiasts. The game's name was also prominently displayed in bold block letters to enhance visibility. To maintain brand consistency, I integrated the website's red and blue colors, aiming to draw attention to the logo.
In creating the secondary logo for the game, my goal was to keep it closely aligned with the first logo by incorporating only the name. While the paint splatter added a unique aspect to the logo, I understood the importance of developing a smaller and cleaner version that could be used as necessary. The primary purpose of this logo was to supply the client with a more professional and polished design.
